Julia Goerges had two months during the offseason to cool down. Apparently, all she did was heat up.

The German claimed the ASB Classic on Saturday by knocking off Caroline Wozniacki, 6-4, 7-6(4), to claim her third consecutive title and 14th consecutive win dating back to last season.

Goerges improves to 6-4 lifetime over Wozniacki and is projected to rise to No.12 in the WTA rankings on Monday. The German now owns five career titles including the last three events she has played at Moscow, Zhuhai and now Auckland.

Prior to this torrid stretch, Goerges had not won a title since 2011 in Stuttgart.

Goerges struck 41 winners against just 23 unforced errors to improve to 2-0 vs. Wozniacki in WTA finals. After losing her first two career tussles with Wozniacki she has now won six of eight.

"It feels amazing, I must say," Goerges said after the match, according to WTATennis.com."It's not just about winning here, but the consistency I've had for the last few weeks and months. That makes me prouder, and I'm just enjoying every moment of it."

Goerges decided to pull out of next week’s Sydney International due to a knee injury. She will be seeded 12th at the Australian Open.

Wozniacki entered the week with a shot at rising to No.1 in the rankings but will end up at No.2 next week and pick up the No.2 seed at Australia.

This year’s ASB Classic was hit hard by rain and had two days completely washed out. The quarterfinals and semifinals were played on Saturday while the final, originally scheduled for Saturday, was pushed to Sunday.
