Lesia Tsurenko lost a set at Acapulco for the first time in ten matches, but the Ukrainian ralled to defeat Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland 5-7, 7-6 (2), 6-2 to repeat as Abierto Mexicano Telcel champion.

Tsurenko claims her fourth career title after coming through the two hour and 44 minute final that featured 30 break point attempts and 13 breaks of serve.

After battling through a tight second-set to level, Tsurenko took a 3-0 lead in the decider and never trailed.

“I kept telling myself to fight even harder, because I wasn’t attacking as well once I went up 3-0,” Tsurenko told David Kane of WTATennis.com. “She found her rhythm and started attacking me, which meant I was playing less aggressively. I was just doing everything that I could do, and I’m really happy that it all worked out in the end.”

Tsurenko improves to 4-0 lifetime in finals with the win, and has won a title in each of the last four seasons.
