Austria's Dominic Thiem claimed his 10th career title in Lyon, defeating Gilles Simon in three for the title.

Dominic Thiem claimed his 10th ATP title and his 200th career match win with a 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-1 victory over Gilles Simon at the Open Parc Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in Lyon.

The Austrian heads to Paris after a grueling stretch that saw him play nine sets in the tournament’s final three days.

Theim’s 20 wins on clay lead the ATP this season, and he improved to 29-8 on the season and 7-2 over Simon, who was bidding for his 14th ATP final. Theim had dropped two matches in a row on clay heading into Lyon, but that speed bump came after the Austrian became just one of three players in history to own more than two wins over Rafael Nadal on clay when he defeated the Spaniard in the Madrid quarterfinals a few weeks ago.

In today's final Thiem rallied from a set and 4-2 down, saving two break points to stay within a break before he rallied to take the victory in two hours and 25 minutes.

"I really enjoyed being here," said Thiem, according to ATPWorldTour.com. "France has a very special place in my heart. I've always played great tennis here and I hope I will always play great tennis here."
