15-year-old Coco Gauff took a step closer to the main draw on Saturday at the Citi Open with a 6-4 6-2 win over American Maegan Manasse.
Gauff, ranked 143 after her trip to the round of 16 at Wimbledon, will face Hiroko Kuwata of Japan in qualifying action on Sunday in D.C.
Gauff is hoping to play in her third main draw of the season. She took a wild card into the Miami Open, where she won a round, and then of course there was Wimbledon, where she qualified and reached the second week.
