No muss, no fuss.

That has been the way of Novak Djokovic during the Asian Swing for years and it appears to be no different in 2019 as the World No.1 won his seventh consecutive match on Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters, 7-5 6-3 over American John Isner.

The four-time Shanghai champion is fresh off the Tokyo title and he has won 14 consecutive sets since making his return to tennis after the US Open.

On Thursday Djokovic never faced a break point and he converted the only break point he needed in the first and second sets to notch his seventh consecutive win over the hard-serving American.

Djokovic finished with 21 winners against nine unforced errors and improve to 10-2 lifetime against Isner. In doing so Djokovic close the gap between himself and inactive Rafael Nadal to 1280 points.

The Serb can earn another 820 points in Shanghai if he can go all the way to the title. The 32-year-old improves to 34-4 lifetime at the Shanghai Rolex Masters and 48-8 on the season with his win.

The Serb will face either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals at Shanghai.
