Bianca Andreescu was the biggest story in tennis last weekend when she defeated Angelique Kerber for the BNP Paribas Open title.

She’s not done notching statement wins.

The Canadian made it two for two against Kerber late night in Miami, delivering a gritty 6-4 4-6 6-1 triumph to book a spot in the round of 16 at the Miami Open on her debut.

The 18-year-old improves to 31-3 at all levels on the season and becomes the third player to notch a winning streak of 10 or more matches on the WTA Tour in 2019 (Petra Kvitova reeled off 11 in January and Belinda Bencic got to 12 before falling to Kerber at the BNP Paribas Open semis last weekend).

Andreescu will bid for 11 on Monday when she faces Anett Kontaveit in the round of 16.

Kerber rallied from 4-1 down in the second set to force a decider but she was steamrolled by the Canadian in the final set—the German won just 14 of 42 points, was broken twice and did not see a break point.

Andreescu improves to 4-0 lifetime against Top 10 opponents and 20-3 at the WTA-level in 2019.

"It wasn't easy today. Kerber player a really great match but I think I took the momentum from the final into this match," Andreescu said in her on-court interview after the match. "I expected a lot of good things from her but I think I was one step ahead today."
