Playing in five consecutive finals in two months hasn’t slowed Russia’s Daniil Medvedev down. The 23-year-old Russian, playing at a career-high ranking of No.4 in the world and fresh off his first career major final appearance, dominated Borna Coric, 6-3 6-1 to claim his sixth ATP title and third of 2019.

Medvedev showed no signs of fatigue on Sunday as he dropped just eight points on serve and broke Coric four times on 12 opportunities to increase his ATP-leading win total to 54.

Medvedev improved to 6-6 lifetime in finals and becomes the first Russian to win the St. Petersburg title since Mikhail Youzhny in 2004.

Medvedev was off to the races when Coric double-faulted to give him a 3-2 lead. From that point the Russian reeled off ten of the final 12 games.

Medvedev won 28 of 41 points in the final set with Coric only managing to hold for 1-5.

Medvedev held to love in the next game, powering his fifth ace to clinch the victory in 72 clean and mean minutes.
