The 2021 ATP calendar is beginning to come into clearer focus as the tennis world waits for two key items to be confirmed.

1. Will the Australian stake out the Feb 8-21 fortnight on the calendar, as suspected?
2. Will Indian Wells be shifted from its March dates to October?

While official confirmation is still pending, we are getting much more clarity on the ATP 2021 calendar. We hear that the ATP players will be looking at these proposals tomorrow.

Today, thanks to reports by L’equipe and Tennis Majors, we’ve learned that…

1. Indian Wells will not take place in March (as mentioned).
2. Events scheduled for Pune (Feb 1-7), New York (Feb 8-14) and Rio (Feb 15-21) will be cancelled.
3. The Delray Beach Open will kick off the ATP season from 4-11 January, and another license could be added for an additional ATP tournament in that week.
4. The ATP Cup and another ATP 250 event will take place in Melbourne in the first week of February, just as players are coming out of quarantine.
5. Montpellier, Cordoba, and a new ATP 250 event will take place from 22-28 February
6. Rotterdam, Buenos Aires, and a new ATP 250 event will take place from 1-7 March.
7. Doha, Marseille and Santiago will take place from 8-14 March.
8. Acapulco and Dubai will take place from 15-21 March.
9. Miami looks to be on track for its regular dates the next week.

We expect these dates to be confirmed, along with the fact that the Australian Open will hold its qualifying event from 9-13 January in Dubai, sometime soon.

The WTA will have lots of announcements to make as well, so keep it tuned here.
