14-year-old Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva claimed the Australian Open Girls’ Singles title and became the first player from Andorra to ever win a major title.

Jimenez Kasintseva, who saved three match points in her third round victory over Melania Delai, is the son of Joan Jimenez, a former ATP player that topped out at 505 in the rankings.

The left-handed Jimenez Kasintseva trains in Barcelona.

She defeated Poland’s Weronika Baszak in a three-set final, 5-7 6-2 6-2.

“I started a bit nervous,” the No.9 seed told reporters after the final. “I mean, playing on Rod Laver, there was people watching, I felt a bit, like, nervous. But then I calmed down and I started playing my tennis.”

France’s Harold Mayot took the Boys Singles title by winning the first all-French Boys’ final at the Australian Open since 2004. He defeated Arthur Cazaux 6-4 6-1 in 67 minutes.

“Arthur is my friend since we are young,” 17-year-old Mayot said of facing his friend and compatriot in the final. “I know him pretty well. We won a lot of title together in the French team. Yeah, was tough to play against him today in the final. But was great to play against a friend. I hope to play against him for the biggest trophies.”
