2019 Open 13 champion Stefanos Tsitsipas is finding his footing at the Palais des Sports in Marseille. On Friday the World No.6 powered past the dangerous Vasek Pospisil 7-5 6-3 behind near perfect serving, pitch-perfect intensity and sublime concentration to set up a semifinal with Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik.

"When I'm in the red zone with my fighting spirit I think good things happen,” Tsitsipas said after his victory.

The Greek showed why he can be so formidable indoors as he won 26 of 30 first serve points and never faced a break point against the in-form Canadian.

Pospisil, who reached the final in Montpellier (l. Monfils) and upset Daniil Medvedev last week at Rotterdam, was broken three times and only won 63 percent of his first-serve points.

Bublik Tops Shapovalov in Three

Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik made headlines earlier in the week when he told reporters that he only plays professional tennis for the money and if he had his druthers he’d spend his time away from the demands of the professional game. As the weekend rolls around the hard-serving 22-year-old is now making headlines with his tennis.

He edged Denis Shapovalov 7-5 4-6 6-3 in two hours and 17 minutes to reach the semis, behind 14 aces and eight of ten break points saved.

Bublik has already played 11 three-setters in 2020, winning seven.

Shapovalov drops to 4-7 on the season, with quarterfinals in Auckland and Marseille.

Daniil Medvedev will face Gilles Simon in the first night session match in Marseille, while Felix Auger-Aliassime and Egor Gerasimov will play the nightcap.
