Ugo Humbert earned his first win in four tries against Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic in Delray Beach.

France’s Ugo Humbert continued his solid form of 2020 by knocking off Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4 7-6(5) on Thursday afternoon at the Delray Beach Open.

The World No.44 broke Kecmanovic as he served for the second set and then saved a set point at 5-6 in the second-set tiebreaker. He won the final three points to clinch his victory in one hour and 42 minutes.

It was a bit of revenge for the 21-year-old from Metz, France—he had lost his first three meetings to Kecmanovic including a three-set defeat to the Serb at last week’s New York Open.

“You have to enjoy the victory because it's not easy every week,” Humbert said.

The Frenchman, who won his maiden ATP title at Auckland in January, improves to 8-3 on the season and advances to his third quarterfinal of 2020. That matches his total of quarterfinals reached in all of 2019.

In other action on Thursday in Delray Beach, former champion Frances Tiafoe took out Tommy Paul 7-5 7-6(4), and will face Humbert next.

Tiafoe reached his first quarterfinal after climbing back from 5-2 down in the second set against World No.70 Paul. Tiafoe entered the week without a single ATP win to his name but improved to 2-3 with today’s victory.
