2018 Doha runner-up Andrey Rublev took his progress at the Qatar Total Open a step further this year, beginning his 2020 campaign with a convincing rummage through the draw that saw him drop just 25 games in four matches.

Rublev, seeded second, needed just one tiebreaker over the course of the tournament and never dropped a set in claiming his third career title, which he finished with a 6-2 7-6(3) victory over France’s Corentin Moutet.

The 22-year-old Muscovite becomes the third-youngest player to ever win the title in Doha and the first Russian to claim the title since Nikolay Davydenko since 2010.

Rublev converted three breaks on six opportunities against the 20-year-old Frenchman, but the week was a very successful one for Moutet despite the loss in the final. Moutet defeated ATP heavyweights Milos Raonic, Fernando Verdasco and Stan Wawrinka in succession to reach the final.

Both Rublev and Moutet will start the year with a nice boost to their rankings. Rublev will take his place in the Top 20 for the first time next week, while Moutet will enter the Top 75 for the first time.
