72 is the magic number. Yes that is the number of players that have been placed in “hard” quarantine at their hotels at the Australian Open, for coming into close contact with an active case. It’s been a wild 48 hours and though the players are struggling to accept the new reality, we must say they’ve done well to keep us all entertained. Here are a few classic social media moments from the group, which includes all the quarantining players, not just the ones in the hard lockdown.
1.Ons Jabeur has her forehand locked and loaded.
2. Iga Swiatek and her team are making the best of things.
3. Pablo Cuevas is working his core (we think).
4.Anastasia Potapova has her volley going good.
5. The Stanimal is taking things in stride.
6. Elina Svitolina misses her Gael.
7.Daniil Medvedev is making the most of his digs – and he has a nice view!
8.Bit of a slow start for Denis Shapovalov but he’ll get the hang of it, we think.
9. Marcelo Arevalo looks like he has been there and done that before. Nice volley drill.
10. Former champion Angelique Kerber is sending good vibes.
11. Heather Watson has speed to burn.
12. Belinda Bencic is ready with some touch – careful with those windows, kiddo.
13. Novak Djokovic finds his Zen down in Adelaide.
14. Lots of time to work on trick shots, as exemplified by Barbora Krejcikova.
15. By next week, Aryna Sabalenka is going to be able to keep three balls in the air with one racquet – you heard it here first.
