Different year, same story. Casper Ruud is looking like a force on his beloved clay once again, and the Norwegian is into the final at Buenos Aires with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Federico Delbonis on Saturday at the Argentina Open.
Ruud, who stretched his clay-court winning streak to 14 matches with his victory, improves to 77-30 lifetime on clay, and 48-11 on the surface since the start of 2020.
The 8th-ranked Norwegian will face either second-seeded Diego Schwartzman or third-seeded Lorenzo Sonego in Sunday’s final. He has yet to drop a set all week as he improved his lifetime record to 8-0 at Buenos Aires.
He needed one hour and 39 minutes to defeat Delbonis, breaking the southpaw’s serve four times over the course of the contest.
