Ana Ivanovic, Yanina Wickmayer Double Up

By Sean Rudolph
(October 18, 2010) Weekend champions are this week's doubles partners in Luxembourg. Linz champion Ana Ivanovic and Yanina Wickmayer, who won the ITF Torhout title in her native Belgium yesterday, will play doubles together at the $220,000 Luxembourg Open. The
wild card doubles team will play Chanelle Scheepers and France's Aurelie Vedy in the first round.
Ivanovic and Wickmayer could face fourth-seeded Lucie Hradecka and Renata Coracova in the quarterfinals.
It figures to be a busy week for Wickmayer, who celebrates her 21st birthday on Wednesday. She joins compatriots Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin as one of three Belgians ranked in the WTA Tour's top 20.
In singles, Wickmayer and Ivanovic are in opposite halves of the draw and could only meet in the final.
The third-seeded Wickmayer plays Patty Schnyder in the opening round. Ivanovic broke serve six times, stomping Schnyder, 6-1, 6-2, in the 47-minute Generali Ladies Linz final on Sunday. It was the shortest final of the year. The winner of Wickmayer-Schnyder could play Jarmila Groth in the quarterfinals with a potential final against second-seeded Aravane Rezai.
Ivanovic, who plummeted to a ranking low of No. 63 early this season, has bounced back to No. 26. Seeded fourth, Ivanovic plays Sweden's Johanna Larsson in the first round of the 32-player draw in their first meeting. A potential quarterfinal would pit Ivanovic against eighth-seeded Julia Goerges, whom she beat in the same stage in Linz, 7-6(6), 6-2.
Top seed Elena Dementieva could be Ivanovic's semifinal opponent.
