Ana Signs Adidas Extension
(February 8, 2010) Ana Ivanovic will retain her stripes for the rest of her tennis career and beyond.
Ivanovic and adidas announced the 22-year-old Serbian has signed "a long-term extension" of her endorsement pact with adidas. Ivanovic will wear adidas for the rest of her playing career and will become a brand ambassador upon her retirement.
Ivanovic is one of the youngest athletes to sign an agreement of this length.
Ana Ivanovic’s spirit on and off the court is consistent with what women’s tennis stands for and is without any doubt a great ambassador for adidas," said Jocelyn Robiot, adidas' VP Global Sports Marketing. "Ana has been part of our women’s training marketing activities from day one and we are delighted to continue our successful partnership in the future."
The announcement comes after a disappointing weekend for Ivanovic on court. The former World No. 1 did not win a set in Serbia's 3-2 Fed Cup loss to Russia.
Ivanovic had a chance to clinch a Serbian victory over visiting Russia in last weekend's Fed Cup World Group first round tie in Belgrade. But Ivanovic lost to 31st-ranked Alisa Kleybanova, 6-2, 6-3. Kleybanova and Svetlana Kuznetsova, who opened the tie with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Ivanovic, swept Ivanovic and Jankovic, 6-1, 6-4, in the decisive doubles match to lift four-time Fed Cup champion Russia to victory.
