Bartoli Rallies Past Stephens in New Haven

Sara Errani French Open (August 21, 2012) -- Marion Bartoli came back from a 3-0 deficit in the third set to overcome rising American Sloane Stephens 6-1, 0-6, 6-3 at the New Haven Open on Tuesday afternoon. 

Bartoli had lost nine consecutive games against the 19-year-old before rallying. The Frenchman overcame 11 double-faults and saved four out of five break points in the final set to advance in one hour and forty-eight minutes. 

The fifth-seed will face fourth-seeded Sara Errani in the quarterfinals.

Errani converted five of six break points in her 6-4, 6-3 victory over Carla Suarez Navarro.

Errani, 25, has won four of her six career titles in 2012.

In other action at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale, Zheng Jie of China defeated Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria 7-5, 6-2.

Earlier today Mona Barthel withdrew due to illness, allowing Maria Kirilenko to advance to the quarterfinals.
