(May 30, 2012) -- Day 4 began Wednesday at the French Open with top-seeded Novak Djokovic in form, cruising to a straight set victory over Blaz Kavcic in 2 hours and 14 minutes.

The World No. 1 ranked player wasted little time in taking the opening set -- 23 minutes to be exact -- where he only surrendered eight points.

While Kavcic seemed to improve his overall play for the duration of the final two sets, it wasn’t nearly enough as Djokovic moved into the third round after a 6-0, 6-4, 6-4 victory, where he will play the Frenchman Nicolas Devilder.

Roger Federer continued his quest to a French Open title with a four set victory over surprise second-rounder Adrian Ungur. The Swiss made quick work of the 92nd-ranked player in the world in the first two sets, but saw his dominance drop off as Ungur took the third set in a tiebreaker.

That wouldn’t deter Federer as he won the fourth set and the match 6-3, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3 to move into the third round where he awaits the winner of Martin Klizan and Nicolas Mahut. This match win moved Federer past Jimmy Connors for most matches won at the four Grand Slam championships in the Open Era, bringing his lifetime record at majors to an astounding 234-35.

Juan Martin Del Potro also advanced in four sets over Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France, 6-7(5), 7-6(3), 6-4, 6-4. He will move on to play Marin Cilic in the third round, who easily passed an early test with a straight set victory over Juan Carlos Ferrero. Seventh-seed Tomas Berdych is also into the third round after defeating Michael Llodra 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.
