(November 10, 2010) It is one of the most iconic tennis rackets in Open Era history and now the Donnay frame Bjorn Borg wielded in the class Battle of 18-16 tie breaker against arch rival John McEnroe in the 1980 Wimbledon final, can be yours — for the right price. Borg's Donnay racket is up for auction online.

SCP Auctions, a leader in brokeringand auctions of sports memorabilia, is currently offering the classic Borg Donnay racket as part of their October/November Internet auction.  The auction ends on Saturday.

The Donnay "Borg Pro" professional model frame shows extensive usage wear including scuffing on the perimeter of the head and on the leather wrapped handle.

Looking at the frame you gain a greater appreciation for how skilled Borg was to hit such heavy topspin strokes off unpredictable bounces from an unruly, worn out grass court with such a small-headed racket.

Borg’s name “Bjorn Borg” is written in ink at the top of the leather handle. The racket strings are broken. The original Donnay “Borg Pro” head cover is included. Borg gave the frame to Cy Jones along with an accompanying handwritten note that reads, "To Cye Glad to Give You The Tennis Racquet. Hope You Improve Yor Game. Bjorn Borg."

Also included are fifteen original 1980 Wimbledon wire photos from Jones’ personal collection, two of which show Borg using this identical racket in the 1980 Wimbledon final match and two others that show him using it in the opening and quarterfinal matches.

The current high bid is $2,750 though only two bids have been submitted on the racket. To bid or for more information please visit this Bjorn Borg racket link.
