Bryan Brothers One Step Away from Century Mark

Bryan Brothers Talk Hunt For 100th Title

Mike and Bob Bryan kept alive their bid for their 100th career title with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 vicory over Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram on Thursday afternoon in New York.

If we can do it, it would add something really extra special," said Bob Bryan. "We're not feeling the pressure to do it in any way. Because it's going to happen eventually. It's not like, 'Oh, my God. We're going to be stuck on 99 forever.' We're both confident we'll knock down the title at some point. It would be cool to do it here."

The world’s No. 1 duo is seeking to increase their run of consecutive years in which they’ve won at least one Grand Slam title to ten as well as taking sole possession of the Open Era men’s doubles title lead with five. The Camarillo, California twins are currently tied with Stan Smith and Bob Lutz, with four.

The Bryans have won 15 Grand Slam titles but they have been shut out in 2014 thus far. Most recently, they were edged in the Wimbledon final by Jack Sock and Vasek Pospisil.

Their opponent in the final will be the Spanish duo of Marc Lopez and Marcel Granollers, who defeated Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-4.
