(May 27, 2011) The French Open was supposed to be the tournament that
Caroline Wozniacki justified her No. 1 ranking by winning her first Grand Slam title.

But with the upset of
Kim Clijsters yesterday, and Wozniacki's loss today, there are going to be a lot of bookies making a lot of money.

During the three previous meetings between World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and World No. 28
Daniela Hantuchova, Wozniacki didn’t lose a single set. But during today’s match, Hantuchova exacted serious revenge, routing the Dane in straight sets: 6-1, 6-3.

During the match, Hantuchova allowed Wozniacki only 8 winners, demolishing her hopes to finally win a Slam title. She goes on to play against
Svetlana Kuznetsova in the next round. Kuznetsova, the 2009 French Open champion, destroyed Rebecca Marino in a similar manner: 6-0, 6-4.

In another straight set win for the ladies today, Vera Zvonareva beat out Anastasia Rodionova, 6-2, 6-3. The Russian No. 3 goes on to play against either Nuria Llagostera Vives or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the next round.
