Cibulkova and McHale Move into Quarterfinals at Carlsbad

(July 19, 2012)--Dominika Cibulkova reached her sixth quarterfinal out of her last seven tournaments yesterday with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Marina Erakovic of New Zealand in Carlsbad on Thursday.

The world No. 14 hit five aces and held in eight of nine service games while saving four of five break points against Erakovic.

Cibulkova advances to face Urszula Radwanska in the quarterfinals.

Radwanska, the younger sister of Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka, dominated Melanie Oudin 6-2, 6-1, breaking serve on five of six chances and winning 23 of 26 first-serve points.

Fifth-seeded Christina McHale advanced to her second quarterfinal of 2012 when she saved 16 of 19 break points against Misaki Doi of Japan to prevail 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

McHale, the world No. 27, will face top-seeded Marion Bartoli in tomorrow's quarterfinals.

In the night match, third-seeded Jelena Jankovic fought back to defeat Melinda Czink 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Jankovic will face Yung-Jun Chan of Taiwan for a spot in the semifinals tomorrow.
