Hradecka saved two set points in the tenth game of the first set to force, and eventually forced a tiebreaker, but she double-faulted at 4-5 and lost the set on the next point.

Hradecka is now 0-6 in career finals.

Cornet, 23, was a runner-up at Strasbourg in 2012, losing to Italian Francesca Schiavone, 6-4, 6-4, in the final. She becomes the second French champion at the event, joining 2009 champion Aravane Rezai.

In the doubles final, 42-year-old Kimiko Date-Krumm partnered with Chanelle Scheepers to defeat Cara Black and Marina Erakovic 6-4, 3-6, 14-12.

The title is the third doubles title for the Japanese wunderkind in 2013. She also won Pattaya City (w/ Dellacqua) and Monterrey (w/ Babos).

Kanepi does double duty in Brussels

Unseeded Kaia Kanepi ousted Jamie Hampton (7-6(6), 6-4) and Shuai Peng (6-2, 7-5) in back-to-back matches to earn her fourth career title at the Brussels Open on Saturday.

Kanepi has now won three titles since the beginning of 2012. The Estonian owns a 4-4 record in career finals. She reached the quarterfinals of the French Open last year, where she was defeated by eventual champion Maria Sharapova.

Due to weather delays all week, the semifinals and finals had to be crammed into a single day.
