Djokovic, Li Lead Emirates US Open Series

By Chris Oddo

Sara Errani French Open (August 19, 2012)—Novak Djokovic and Li Na are the frontrunners in this year’s Emirates US Open Series Bonus Challenge this year, and with many of the top men and women taking the week to rest and prepare for the US Open, each looks poised to hold on to the top spot.

The top three players could earn as much as $1,000,000 in additional prize money, depending on their US Open results.

In 2007, Roger Federer collected the biggest paycheck in tennis history when he earned a $1.4 million payday for winning the US Open plus an additional $1 million for winning the US Open Series.

In 2010 and in 2005, Kim Clijsters earned $2.2 million thanks to the bonus—the largest paycheck in women’s tennis history.

This year's race could change in the final week, as Sam Querrey and Petra Kvitova are both in action this week with a chance to move into the top spot...
