Novak Djokovic (June 29, 2013) -- Sunny skies over London allowed for the completion of all men's third round matches on day six at Wimbledon. But when the day ended, there was one man alone who appeared ready to go all the way based on his almost perfect performance.

Top seed Novak Djokovic notched a ruthless and efficient straight sets dismissal of No. 28 seed Jeremy Chardy of France. After two sets of play, Djokovic had yet to make an unforced error until midway through the third set when he hit a double fault for his first.

Djokovic would go on to commit only three unforced errors and strike 38 winners on the day as he wrapped up the 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 win.

No. 4 seed David Ferrer had a much more convoluted path to the round of 16 as he took on No. 26 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov.

After both men split the first two sets in tiebreaks, it was Dolgopolov who seized the third set and looked poised to cause the upset. But Ferrer raised his level to take the fourth set, and with a key second break of serve late in the fifth set, he went on to win 6-7(6),7-6(2) 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Tomic Tops Gasquet; Returns to Round of 16 for Second Time

Aussie hope Bernard Tomic appeared to put his current issues regarding his father being banned from the All-England Club behind him as he earned an upset win over No. 9 seed Richard Gasquet earlier in the day.

Both men engaged in crowd pleasing rallies, but it was Tomic whose own sublime shotmaking skills frustrated the Frenchman all day long. After dropping the first set, Gasquet fought off two set points in the second and went onto even the match at one set all.

When Tomic claimed the third set, Gasquet found himself unable to force the issue against the Australian. The fourth set entered yet another tiebreak with Tomic raising his level, especially on his forehand wing. Missing out on two match points, Tomic cracked a final big serve Gasquet couldn't handle to seal the 7-6(7), 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(7) win.

This marks the return of Tomic to the second week of Wimbledon for the second time in his career.

Surprises Continue Into Second Week

With the absence of both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal due to their earlier losses, the men's draw continues to be wide open for many still left.

Journeymen Lukas Kubot of Poland and Kenny De Schepper of France are both closing in on a potential quarterfinal berth. Kubot served and volleyed his way to a first-ever win over France's Benoit Paire 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 while De Schepper upset No. 22 seed Juan Monaco 6-4, 7-6(8), 7-6.

Spain's Fernando Verdasco put in a fine performance against Latvia's Ernests Gulbis as the Spaniard advanced with ease 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.

Seeded players advancing included No. 7 seed Tomas Berdych, No. 8 seed Juan Martin Del Potro, No. 13 seed Tommy Haas and No. 23 seed Andreas Seppi, who upset N0. 12 seed Kei Nishikori in five sets.
