Serena and Azarenka Possible Semi at Australian Open

Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams may again face off in the semis of a Grand Slam as the draw for for the Australian Open women's singles event was revealed today in Melbourne.

Australian Open Logo (January 10, 2013) -- Defending champion and World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka may have to go through five-time Australian Open winner Serena Williams in the semifinals of this year's event in Melbourne, Australia.

Azarenka was on hand as the women's singles draw was announced near Melbourne Park this afternoon. No. 2 seed Maria Sharapova could possibly face No.4 seed Agnieszka Radwanska in the other semifinal should they make it to that stage.

Waiting for Azarenka in the quarterfinal round could be No. 7 seed Sara Errani who reached the last eight of Melbourne in 2012. Williams could possibly meet No. 8 seed Petra Kvitova in a rematch of their meeting at Wimbledon last year.

The other quarterfinals could feature Sharapova versus No. 5 seed Angelique Kerber. But Sharapova may first have to battle No. 25 seed Venus Williams in an earlier round should they advance.

Radwanska is scheduled to take on No. 6 seed Li Na in the quarterfinals. Radwanska just defeated the Chinese star in the semifinals of the Apia International event in Sydney.

Opening round matches at the he Australian Open are scheduled to start on January 14th.
