Serena Williams, Australian Open (January 22, 2013) -- Serena Williams will attempt to match her longest career winning streak on Wednesday in Melbourne when she meets 19-year-old Sloane Stephens in the Australian Open quarterfinals, but the 15-time Grand Slam champion still has a lot of work to do if she’s interested in adding the longest winning streak in WTA Tour history to her long list of career milestones.

Here is a list of the top ten winning streaks in WTA Tour history:

74 Martina Navratilova: 1984
55 Chris Evert: 1974
53 Navratilova: 1986
50 Navratilova: 1983
46 Steffi Graf: 1988
45
Steffi Graf: 1987
44
Steffi Graf: 1993
41 Navratilova: 1982
37 Martina Hingis: 1997
37 Navratilova: 1978

Serena, who tends to place her focus on winning big matches rather than winning all of her matches, has only had three unbeaten streaks of 20 or more matches in her career, but the current streak is her first plus-20 win streak since 2003.

Here are Serena’s six best unbeaten streaks, career:

21 Ended by Justine Henin in Charleston in 2003
21 Ended in Los Angeles by Chanda Rubin in 2002
20 Current streak in 2013
19 Ended in Cincinnati by Angelique Kerber in 2012
18 Ended at U.S. Open by Sam Stosur in 2011
18 Ended by Kim Clijsters at WTA Championships in 2002
