Top seed David Ferrer will square off against Italy's Fabio Fognini at the Copa Claro finals in Buenos Aires on Sunday.

Ferrer continued his domination over his fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in their semifinal on Saturday. With Ferrer ruling the head to head 14-0, Almagro was forced again to try and come up with something special versus his countryman.

Both men found themselves locked in a long game with both tied at 3-all in the opening set. Though Almagro had several break point chances, it was Ferrer who finally served out the game to 4-3 when Almagro sent a forehand long.

Later, a rash of errors from Almagro allowed Ferrer to break at love and take the set 6-4.

After each player traded breaks at the start of the second set, Ferrer again took control of the lead for 3-1. But Almagro again had a chance to keep in contact with Ferrer in the next game.

A net cord set up what looked to be an easy forehand winner for Almagro who was up a break point. But Almagro sent the forehand long only adding to his dismay.

Ferrer soon held serve and eventually closed out the 6-4, 6-2 victory. He will now seek his third title in a row at the event.

Fognini Fights Off Robredo to Reach Finals

Though finding himself a set and a break down in his semifinal, Fabio Fognini rallied to continue his impressive results on clay.

Standing in Fognini's way to the finals was Spain's Tommy Robredo who claimed the first set easily 6-3.

Fognini found himself in all sorts of trouble in the second set when Robredo served for the match up 5-3. But Robredo couldn't seal the deal and soon dropped the next four games in row allowing Fognini to level the contest.

With the momentum on his side, Fognini ran away with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win.

The Italian now extends his recent run of consecutive clay court finals to five including last week's Vina del Mar event that he won. Fognini is now 23-1 on the surface with his lone loss coming to Rafael Nadal last year at Roland Garros.

Ferrer leads the head to head against Fognini 6-0.
