Caroline Garcia of France celebrated her first ever WTA title by beating defending champion Jelena Jankovic at the Claro Open Colsanitas event in Bogota, Colombia.

Though Jankovic entered the final seeking her second straight Bogota title, Garcia proved the better player right from the start. Garcia, taking hold of an early break lead, would soon serve out the first set to love 6-3.

Garcia would go up an early break for 2-1 in the second set thanks to aggressive play. Yet Garcia threw in an ill-timed double fault down break point to let Jankovic back in the set for 3-all. Jankovic's advantage would prove short-lived as Garcia broke back again.

Serving for the title at 5-4, Garcia would not waver. A final forehand winner allowed Garcia to celebrate the 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Not only does the win give Garcia her first ever WTA title, but it's also her first ever top 10 victory after being 0-6 against top 10 opponents.

Garcia also claimed the doubles title with her partner Lara Arruabarrena. Garcia is the first WTA player to win singles and doubles titles at the same event since Serena Williams won Olympic gold in both events at the 2012 Summer Games.
