Greta Arn lived out her dreams with her eyes wide open today. The 31-year-old Hungarian dethroned defending champion Yanina Wickmayer, 6-3, 6-3, to collect her second career title at the $220,000 ASB Classic in Auckland.

The 88th-ranked Arn claimed her first tournament title since winning the 2007 Estoril championship.

Arn took down the top two seeds en route to the title. She had saved five match points against Sofia Arvidsson in the second round earlier in the week; she beat top seed
Maria Sharapova in the quarterfinals (for her first Top 20 win), and No.4 seed  Julia Goerges in the semis.

"I feel unbelievable, I’m so happy — I don’t even know what to say. It’s a dream come true," Arn said. "I just stayed focused, did my thing, played one ball after another… and didn’t think about who she is or what ranking she is. My game plan was to move her around a lot, because she had a tough match yesterday; she’s a great player and I have a lot of respect for her."

Wickmayer
looked a little drained after conquering China's Peng Shuai 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 in a a near three-hour semifinal. A depleted  Wickmayer  saw her nine-match winning streak in Auckland come to an end.

"I wasn't just disappointed at losing, also disappointed with my game today," Wickmayer said. "Everyone wants to win, but I also wanted to play a good match today and I didn't. She played well, she’s an experienced player and she did what she had to do, so congratulations to her. I had one bad day, but four good ones this week.”
