Isner's Second Career? NFL Kicker

By Chris Oddo

(August 11, 2012) -- John Isner spent a little R and R time at the Rogers Centre in Toronto last Monday, and by the time the 6'9" World No. 11 was through, he was the talk of the town.

According to this piece, Toronto Argonauts officials could not even remember the last time a ceremonial kicker had actually made the kick.

Enter John Isner.

Isner sailed a 30-yard ceremonial first-kick through the uprights--and with plenty of distance to spare--on Monday, striking up a flurry of speculation that the tennis player might be headed towards a second career as an NFL placekicker.

He's already impervious to pressure, so is it really a stretch to think that Isner could someday latch on with an NFL squad after his tennis career ends?

Kickers regularly play into their forties, which means that even if Isner plays all the way into his mid-30's on the ATP Tour, he'll still have 7-10 years to get himself a Super Bowl ring to add to all his tennis hardware.
