Jankovic Gets Revenge On Benesove First Round At Cincinnati

(August 16, 2011) Seeded-13th Jelena Jankovic took a first set bagel from Iveta Benesova 6-0, 6-3 in 68 minutes at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati on Tuesday.
The Serbian was able to hit six aces but was let down by seven double-faults. Her first serve was her strong point, winning 81 percent of point available.
She was able to save her serve four of five times while breaking the Czech's serves in five of nine attempts.
Jankovic improved her record to 29 wins to 15 losses. Around this time last year, she lost to the World No. 41 in Montreal while being seeded-first at the tournament.
The former no. 1 has been forced to rebuild her game after dismal results in 2010.
French Open champion Li Na defeated Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-4. Despite her success on clay, Li has a 17-8 win/loss record on the hard court over the past 12 months.
Flavia Pennetta outplayed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the twelve seed, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and was able to save her serve four times and lost five.
The World No. 25 Italian converted six of seven break-point opportunities.
Nadia Petrova ousted Roberta Vinci, who took the role of upsetting the top players last wee, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4.
