(April 11, 2012) It took over a month and four tournaments, but No. 3 seed Jelena Jankovic finally won a tennis match as she broke her four-in-a-row losing streak at the e-Boks Open in Copenhagen tonight. Despite owning a 2-0 record over her opponent, young Laura Robson of the U.K., including a straight sets win in their last meeting at Wimbledon, Jankovic struggled for most of the match to produce anywhere near the form that took her to No. 1 in the world back in 2008. After Jankovic took the first set, multiple errors from both turned the second set into something of a slug fest as neither woman could seize momentum. Robson eventually forced a tiebreak, but even after Jankovic failed to convert on three match points, Robson couldn't take advantage as she dumped a drop volley into the net to give Jankovic a 6-4, 7-6 victory. No. 5 seed Kaia Kanepi also faced a struggle against Monterrey title winner Timea Babos of Hungary. Both players split sets to force a decider where they exchanged early breaks of serve before Kanepi ran away in the final set tiebreaker to close out a tight 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 win. Other winners on the day included Mona Barthel and Petra Martic.
