John Tomic, father of Bernard Tomic, was found guilty of assaulting the Australian tennis star's hitting partner during an altercation back in May.

A Spanish court handed down a suspended eight-month sentence on the elder Tomic, who was accused
of attacking Bernard Tomic's hitting partner Thomas Drouet during an argument outside a Madrid hotel.

Due to this being his first offense with no prior criminal record, John Tomic will not face any jail time. The court also issued a restraining order on Tomic not to be in close contact with Drouet.

Bernard Tomic, while competing at Wimbledon this summer, criticized ATP officials for suspending his father's credentials at the event. The ATP extended the credential ban of Tomic's father through May of next year.

The younger Tomic is scheduled to compete for Australia in its upcoming Davis Cup tie versus Poland on Sept. 13.
