Monfils Knee Deep in Pain Before Davis Cup

(February 6th, 2012) For fans of Gael Monfils, disappointment may be a feeling they will have to get used as the French star is in doubt for this week's upcoming Davis Cup tie between France and Canada. After losing in yesterday's Montpelier final in three sets to Tomas Berdych, Monfils stated that he was suffering from a chronic knee injury that as he put it "is ruining my life."

According to an article on ESPN.co.uk, Monfils was unsure he would even play yesterday's final before giving it his all in a three set loss to No. 7 Berdych. Monfils plans to travel to Vancouver with his French Davis Cup teammates but will undergo tests prior to the trip to make sure he can play in this weekend's tie.

Monfils leads the French team that also includes Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Michael Llodra.
