Andrea Petkovic continued her winning season in 2014 with yet another title. This time in a place where she had lifted the trophy before in her career.

ATP: Hewitt and Karlovic Meet in Newport Final

Petkovic entered Sunday's Nurnberger Gastein Ladies event final in Bad Gastein, Austria having won the event back in 2009.

Waiting for her was American qualifier Shelby Rogers.

Rogers entered her first ever WTA final full of momentum. Currently ranked No. 144 in the world, Rogers upset several top 20 players earlier in the week including Sara Errani and Carla Suarez Navarro.

Yet Petkovic's experience proved the deciding factor early in the match. Petkovic leapt out to a 4-1 lead in the opening set. With Rogers only serving at 35%, it allowed Petkovic to soon wrap up the set 6-3.

Rogers served up a double fault down break point in the opening game of the second set. Petkovic climbed out to a 3-0 lead thanks with help from multiple errors from Rogers.

The American broke Petkovic back to pull within a game at 3-2. But Petkovic would strike a forehand winner several games later to earn another break for 5-2. Despite being broken serving for the match, Petkovic didn't waste any time ending the contest.

Petkovic, helped again by more errors from Rogers including at match point, sealed the 6-3, 6-3 victory.

With her run to the final, Rogers is now projected to have a new career high ranking and be very close to cracking the top 100 for the first time.

Bad Gastein is now Petkovic's second title this season and fourth won overall in her career. She earlier won Charleston back in April.
