For Canada's Vasek Pospisil and American Jack Sock, a last minute decision proved to be a career changing one.

Wimbledon - Men's Final Preview With Djokovic Versus Federer

The impromptu doubles team, playing in their first ever tournament together, achieved the ultimate result. A Wimbledon title.

Pospisil and Sock had to work to reach Saturday's men's doubles finals against top seeds and defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan. The Bryans entered having won 15 Grand Slam titles.

The North American team defeated multiple seeded teams en route to the final. That included No. 2 seeds Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares and No. 5 seeds Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek.

Yet the toughest challenge remained in taking on top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan. Pospisil and Sock proved up to it by pushing the defending champions into a decisive fifth set. It was also the young team's first ever time playing on famed Centre Court.

After seeing several match points go by, Sock would hit a winning forehand on a Mike Bryan second serve.

With that, Pospisil and Sock celebrated the 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win for their first ever Grand Slam title together as a team.

"We had a lot of fun, people could see that," Sock said. "That's part of why we did well. We really enjoyed being out there. As kids we grew up watching this tournament. This is what we kind of dreamed of doing."

This is the first Grand Slam title for Pospisil. Sock previously won the 2011 US Open mixed doubles title with fellow American Melanie Oudin.
