Day 11 at the French Open features a local favorite and the reigning king of clay as quarterfinal action continues on Wednesday.

Court Philippe Chatrier

Sara Errani vs. Andrea Petkovic
Head-to-Head: Tied at 1-1

A finalist in Paris two years ago, Errani continues proving why clay is her domain. The plucky Italian, using her full arsenal of shots from all over the court. saw off Jelena Jankovic to reach the quarterfinals yet again. Waiting for her is Petkovic who, after several injuries, is having a career resurgence. The likable German will need to stay aggressive in this one or risk getting dragged into Errani's game. Petkovic has enjoyed a fine run this tournament, but the momentum should stay with the Italian.

Pick: Errani in two

Andy Murray vs. Gael Monfils
Head-to-Head: Murray leads 3-2

Few would have predicted this quarterfinal pairing. But after Stan Wawrinka crashed out early, it set the stage for what could be a very entertaining match. Polar opposites in game styles and personalities, Monfils and Murray continue to surprise and delight Paris. While the partisan Parisians will cheer Monfils' shotmaking and boo any Murray winners, it likely won't startle the steady Scot. Though the heart says Monfils, the head says Murray.

Key Stat: This is the first French versus British men's quarterfinal at Roland Garros in the Open Era.

Pick: Murray in Four

Court Suzanne Lenglen

Simona Halep v. Svetlana Kuznetsova
Head-to-Head: Tied at 2-2

An enticing encounter between a rising force and a decorated veteran. Halep is the highest seed left in the women's draw. Kuznetsova is the former 2009 champ once again back in the mix for a third major title. Halep has said she feels the pressure of being a top seed. If it gets to her in this match could play a factor. Kuznetsova, who has outlasted three of the streakiest power strikers on tour in Camila Giorgi, Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova, may need to up her own offense in this one. Both will need to serve well and not be afraid to go for it when it matters.

Key Stat: Halep is aiming for her first career Grand Slam semi. Kuznetsova hasn't been in a Grand Slam semi since winning Paris five years ago.

Pick: Halep in Three

Rafael Nadal v. David Ferrer
Head-to-Head: Nadal leads 21-6

A rematch of last year's final. This latest encounter, their third straight at Roland Garros, between fellow Spanish Davis Cup teammates has a bit of intrigue given that Ferrer defeated Nadal in Monte Carlo. Ferrer played more aggressive, at least by his standards, in that win and will need to do something similar to have even a remote chance. But recent birthday boy Nadal has shaken off the rust from his game and is showing imperious form. In three previous meetings at the French Open, Ferrer has never taken a set from Nadal. That trend will continue.

Pick: Nadal in three
