It's not good to be a top seed at this year's French Open.

Just ask No. 3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska who found herself the latest high profile player exiting the women's draw in Paris.

French Open: Melzers Talk Marriage and Tennis in Paris

That was due to the steady play of 21-year-old Croatian Ajla Tomljanovic who took on the Polish star in their third round meeting on Friday. Tomljanovic took advantage of a slow start from her opponent as she raced out to a 5-1 lead. Radwanska would rally, but it wasn't enough as Tomljanovic took the set 6-4.

Radwanska would not convert on three break point chances she had in the second set. That allowed Tomljanovic to hang onto a break lead right up until the end.

Soon, Tomljanovic celebrated the 6-4, 6-4 victory sending her into the fourth round.

"I went on the stadium for the first time, and she kind of feels like home there, because she's been there a lot more than I did. I went out there, and I really, inside really thought I could win," Tomljanovic said. "I think that showed and it is why I won."

"Well, I think I just start too slow," Radwanska said about the loss. "I was 5-1 down, and I guess I was a little late for the first set. I was still trying, almost come back, but didn't work out well. But, well, she definitely played good tennis today. I had my chances. I didn't do them. I think that cost me the match."

With Radwanska's exit, and the earlier upsets of No. 1 seed Serena Williams and No. 2 seed Li Na, it marks the first time in history that the top three women's seeds have lost before the fourth round in a Grand Slam.

Next up for Tomljanovic is Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro. The No. 14 seed stopped American wildcard Taylor Townsend 6-2, 6-2.

Sharapova and Stosur March into Fourth Round

No. 7 seed Maria Sharapova wasted little time in booking her place into the second week. Sharapova, facing Paula Ormaechea in the third round, raced away with a 6-0, 6-0 win.

Next for Sharapova is No. 19 seed Sam Stosur.

A former French Open finalist, Stosur used her big serve to full advantage against No. 9 seed Dominika Cibulkova in their third round encounter. With a final ace, Stosur closed out a 6-4, 6-4 win. This marks the first appearance for Stosur in the fourth round of major since the US Open back in 2012.
