(July 25, 2012) -- The International Tennis Federation (ITF) today announced the seeds for the London 2012 Olympic Tennis Event, being staged at the All England Club, Wimbledon from July 28 through August 5.

Seeds are based on the ATP and WTA world rankings of Monday, 23 July.

The draw for the 2012 Olympic Tennis Event will be held at the All England Club, Wimbledon on Thursday, July 26, at 11:00 GMT.

Wimbledon champion Roger Federer is top seed for men’s singles, with Beijing Olympic bronze medallist, Serbian Novak Djokovic, is seeded No. 2. Federer, who teamed up with Stanislas Wawrinka to win doubles gold for Switzerland in Beijing, is still looking for his first Olympic medal in singles. Home favourite Andy Murray is seeded third, followed by David Ferrer, who is the highest-seeded Spaniard in the draw after Rafael Nadal withdrew his bid to defend 2008 Beijing gold medal because of injury.

On the women's side, Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka is seeded first, followed by 2012 Wimbledon runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska, representing Poland as the No. 2 seed. French Open champion Maria Sharapova will play as the third seed for the Russians, and Wimbledon champion Serena Williams plays the No. 4 spot.

The seeds for the doubles are based on the combined rankings of each team, with each player using the higher of their singles and doubles world rankings.

In doubles, defending bronze medalists Bob and Mike Bryan are top seeds in the men’s doubles, while defending champs Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka are seeded No. 6. The women's doubles draw features Americans Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond as the No. 1 seeds; defending gold medalists -- the Williams sisters -- are unseeded.

FYI: If there are two players or doubles teams from the same country, they will be drawn in opposite halves of the draw. If there are three or more players/teams from the same country, they will be drawn in different quarters of the draw.
