Lukas Rosol (April 28th, 2013) -- Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic will now no longer just be known as the man who shocked Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon last year. Rosol can now add ATP champion to his resume as he won his first ever title at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy event in Bucharest.

Rosol faced Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the men's final with both players coming off big upsets in the week. Rosol ousted defending champion Gilles Simon in the semis while Garcia-Lopez took out top seed Janko Tipsarevic earlier in the week.

But the day belonged to Rosol who only dropped his serve just once early in the first set. Rosol notched 62% first serves while pressuring his opponent's own serve. Rosol converted four out of nine break points as he went on to secure a 6-3, 6-2 victory in 67 minutes.

During the trophy ceremony, an emotional Rosol dedicated his win to his late father who recently passed away. Rosol's father suffered a stroke while watching his son play Davis Cup on TV earlier in the year and never fully recovered. The memory of his father was fresh on Rosol's mind.

“I wanted to dedicate this trophy to someone, so I found the energy. I felt somebody was helping me from up top. It’s not just about me. My family has always supported me and my tennis. I felt match after match, my dream was coming true.," Rosol said.

With the win, Rosol is now expected to move into the top forty when the new rankings come out on Monday.

Yesterday, the men's doubles title was claimed by Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau over Lukas Dlouhy and Olivier Marach 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.
