Serena Williams, Andy Roddick Confirm Oz Open, Olympics Mixed

(October 14, 2011) For the 2012 Australian Open mixed doubles, rumors were flying around about Serena Williams and Andy Roddick pairing up but the Williams confirmed it via Twitter.

She tweeted on September 13th, “Me and @andyroddick decided to play mixed doubles Australia! We Love Aussie! ...... Book it its real!”

Williams won Wimbledon and the US Open in 1998 playing mixed doubles with Max Mirnyi and four Australian Open doubles titles with her sister Venus of 20 total titles. Roddick has never won a mixed doubles or doubles Grand Slam titles.

Williams is the World No. 14 and Roddick is the World No. 15. The two have also confirmed to play for the United States at 2012 London Olympics.

Venus Williams will play with doubles champion Bob Bryan. Serena has won Gold medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics with her sister Venus.
