Serena Eyeing Moscow Return?

The No. 1 player in the world might finally return to the court live from Russia at love.

WTA tournament officials in Moscow have confirmed that Russian visa support has been requested by
Serena Williams and her team, with Williams’ agent Jill Smoller sending all documentation over already.

The Premier level tournament will be played on hard court indoors Oct. 18-24.
Francesca Schiavone is the defending champion. Williams has not played in Moscow since 2007, when she lost in the finals to Elena Dementieva.

She previously played the event in 1997, qualifying while ranked No. 448 and losing in the second round of the main draw. Playing and playing well at Moscow could significantly help Williams maintain her hold on the No. 1 ranking in the world and cement her place in the year-end WTA Championships.
