Roger Federer vies for Olympic Gold as a No. 1 men's player. Roger Federer will attempt to do something remarkable -- what else is new? -- that no other tennis player has ever done at the 2012 Olympic Games in London: Win a gold medal while ranked No. 1 in the world.

As the tennis event at the Olympics has aged and matured -- it was officially reinstated as a medal sport in 1988 -- players are coming around and giving this event the respect and attention that it deserves.
