TN Mag: With London Over, Now Back to the U.S. Open

By Tennis Now Staff

Tennis Now Magazine - Olympics Wrap-Up The Olympic Games were everything to us this week, and it just kept on giving: Purple windscreens? Check. Non-white kits? Check. Mixed Doubles and best-of-three matches? Yes.

And don't even get us started on the actual matches.

On the women's side, Serena obliterated the women's draw, dropping only one game in her final against Maria Sharapova. She teamed with sister Venus to take their third Olympic gold medal in doubles.

The men's field saw Andy Murray prove his mettle, and the return of Juan Martin del Potro to the list of elite ATP players. The Argentinian pushed Federer to 19-17 in the third set in that semifinal match; Delpo ended up with a bronze medal in singles.

And we expect Serena, Andy, and Juan Martin to take this momentum through the U.S. Open Series, now back in the swing after the Summer Games. This week, the men and women play in Canada -- Toronto and Montreal, respectively -- and then move on to the combined event in Mason, Ohio: the Western & Southern Open.

Less than a month away until the players descend on New York City. We can't wait!
