Trickmayer: Fake Yanina Wickmayer Twitter Account

(May 18, 2010) Yanina Wickmayer has been the victim of Twitter identity theft.

Someone set up a Twitter account using the name "YWickmayer" and created a page claiming it to be the "official Yanina Wickmayer page." The fake Wickmayer sent tweets to Venus Williams and Andy Roddick, among others.

Wickmayer and her representatives are taking steps to have the account removed from Twitter, according to a post on her official web site, YaninaWickmayer.be.

"A person is using twitter under the name 'YWickmayer.' Yanina wants to make a clear statement that she is not the person behind this," says the post on Wickmayer's web site. "Yanina wants to make a statement that she is not the person behind this account. She is taking the necessary actions to have the account removed."
