Venus Williams is on a roll.

Fresh off winning her 45th career title in Dubai, Williams extended her recent match winning streak with yet another victory in Miami.

Making her 15th appearance at the Sony Open Tennis event, Williams faced young Slovakian Anna Schmiedlova in the second round. Schmiedlova hung tough with Williams in many of their rallies. But it was the potent serve and aggressive tactics of Williams that earned her a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Afterwards, Williams talked about her recent winning streak.

"I feel confident. I feel good on the court. I feel like I have had a chance to play more matches this year than really lots and lots of years. Many, many years, like four or five," Williams said. "My whole plan is to be playing. That's it."

After battling an auto-immune disorder along with a tender back over the last few years, Williams finds herself back inside the top 30. But Williams revealed that despite the tough times she always believed she would find a way back.

"I mean, there is always a point in anyone's career, I mean, for me where, you know, you have so many hard knocks, so to speak, and you just keep getting up and believing that you have it in you. At the end of the day, that's what I believed, that I had it in me. Not only me, but every other player is fighting every day to be their best. My fight was just a little bit different."

Williams says her goals moving forward are to break into the top 20 and then the top 16 this season.

"So just, you know, one at a time. To make those steps you do have to play well. And I want to win tournaments. So those are my main goals."

Williams will next face Australian Casey Dellacqua in the next round.
