Venus Williams is feeling better about her game despite several years of health issues.

The former World No. 1 in an upcoming interview with CNN's Open Court expressed enthusiasm about her chances this season despite having battled with an auto-immune disorder for several years.

"I have to say I feel more confident on the court than I have in my life," said Williams who is scheduled to compete at the Sony Open Tennis event starting this week.

Part of that is having dealt with the struggles of not being able to compete at her best but recently finding a way back into winning form. That includes capturing the Dubai title last month over France's Alize Cornet in the final. That victory marked the 45th title of Williams' career.

"I think it's because I have really been to the bottom, so once you get that far down and you get back up, you realize you really have nothing to lose," Williams said.

The 33-year-old Williams, currently ranked No. 31, continues to set her sights also on the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. Williams hopes to compete there along with her younger sister, Serena Williams.

"So the Olympics is definitely on our radar. It's only a couple of years away…we think we can get there."

Venus Williams is scheduled to face off against Slovakia's Anna Schmiedlova in the second round of Miami later this week.
