Vera Zvonareva
, the 2nd-ranked female in the world, easily took down Petra Kvitova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.  Zvonareva faltered little in her road to the championships of the Australian Open, losing only 6 games to the young, 28th-ranked Czech.  Zvonareva took the first quite simply and powerfully and just as Kvitova was beginning to gain her momentum to take it to a third set, Zvonareva finished her off, securing her seat in the semi-finals of the tournament.

3rd ranked
Kim Clijsters beat the younger, Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). The 12th-ranked Polish player, Radwanska (who became something of an internet sensation earlier this week by breaking the head off of her racquet during a back hand), was no contest for the seasoned Belgian and her unrelenting backhand and powerful forehand from the baseline. Clijsters goes on to play Vera Zvonareva in the semi-finals.

Get ready to watch the men’s quarterfinals later tonight and early tomorrow morning as Andy Murray takes on Alexandr Dolgopolov and Rafael Nadal takes on David Ferrer.
