(October 11, 2012) -- 20-year-old Heather Watson reached her first tour-level semifinal at the HP Open in Osaka, Japan when she defeated Pauline Parmentier of France 7-5, 6-3. 

Watson defeated Polona Hercog and Anabel Medina Garrigues to reach the quarterfinals, and will face Misaki Doi of Japan in the semifinals.

The Guernsey, England native won her first two titles this year when she captured the doubles trophies at Stanford and Dallas. Watson is also in the doubles semifinals at Osaka, partnered with Kimiko Date-Krumm

Watson is currently ranked No. 71 in the world after reaching the third-round at Wimbledon this summer.
